Description

 

Assumes responsibility for the understanding of and adherence to all federal and state laws as they relate to the human resources function.  Maintains authoritative knowledge of University policy, procedure and/or precedence in the execution of professional human resources services. *

 

Works closely with the HRD management staff to develop, coordinate and administer the University’s flexible benefits program for assigned faculty and staff including, but not limited to, medical, dental, short and long-term disability and life insurances, 403(b) retirement plan compliance, flexible spending account administration and pre-retirement counseling. *

 

Ensures the accurate and timely processing of leave of absence documentation, including short and long-term disability, FMLA and Workers’ Compensation absences.  Acts as liaison between the supervisor, employee and insurance carrier when necessary and/or appropriate. 

 

Provides professional human resources support to supervisors and employees regarding employee relations issues in an effort to facilitate a effective working climate. *

 

Assists managers with the development of job descriptions, ensuring compliance with the University’s salary administration program as well as applicable federal and state wage and hour laws.  Provides strategic guidance in recommending the re-engineering of positions when necessary and appropriate.  Provides salary recommendations based on University policy and professional practice. 

 

Oversees the recruitment, interviewing and placement of persons for University staff positions.  Counsels managers regarding the suitability of candidates for vacant positions. 

 

Works closely with the HRD management staff to develop, coordinate and deliver the University’s Basic Supervisory Training program and any other ad hoc training programs deemed necessary and appropriate.  Manages, oversees and/or participates in various annual HRD projects and/or initiatives.  Provides professional human resource support in the area of special events.  

 

Works closely with Information Technology Services and the Office of Communication regarding HRD technology initiatives.  Assumes responsibility for the development, implementation and ongoing enhancements of technology usage in an effort to continue to enhance HRD’s level of customer service to the University community. 

 

Assists in the design, maintenance and direction of the HRD website.

 

Ensures the timely completion of annual federal reporting requirements including, but not limited to, FMLA, Form 5500s, IPEDS, VETS100 and Datamatch. 

 

Performs other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

Bachelor's Degree required.

3 years to < 5 years.
