Title Timekeeper

Description

This job is responsible for serving as a timekeeper for the Franciscan Health System (FHS) MBO in the editing and auditing process utilizing the Kronos automated timekeeping system for payment of wages to employees.  Work includes communicating with management to ensure the accuracy of edit log entries to facilitate the accurate data transferred to National payroll.  Work also involves educating all levels of staff with understanding the edit logs, scheduling and the features of the Kronos’ clock.  Assists assigned departments with time and attendance related questions and issues. 

The work requires the effective application of functional knowledge of pay rules and technical expertise with respect to the automated timekeeping system (Kronos) to run scheduling, edit and pay processing for time entry and reports.  Work requires skill to identify inaccuracies or anomalies in the information and resolve discrepancies within a defined procedure or regulation.   Judgment is exercised in responding to managers regarding compliance to edit logs and pay rules according to established policy and guidelines.  Expertise with spreadsheet (e.g. MS Excel) and report-writing software will be necessary. 

Requirements

Education/Work Experience Requirements

High School Diploma (or GED equivalent), and three years of recent related payroll or human resources work experience.  Automated timekeeping system experience, preferably Kronos preferred.

Job Knowledge/Skills:

 

§         Knowledge of office principles, practices and equipment.

§         Knowledge of the practices, standards and regulatory requirements with respect to timekeeping processing.

§         Ability to understand and apply moderately complex guidelines, procedures and instructions to perform the duties of the position.

§         Ability to work on multiple projects at the same time.

§         Ability to convey information effectively in verbal and written communications.

§         Ability to utilize correct grammar, sentence structure, phrase structure and spelling at an acceptable level of proficiency in a business setting.

§         Ability to maintain strict confidentiality with respect to pay related information.

§         Ability to function effectively in a team environment, including team meeting participation and adherence to work plans on all projects.

§         Ability to use automated systems and office equipment at an acceptable level of proficiency.

§         Ability to perform mathematical calculations quickly and accurately.

§         Ability to establish and maintain effective workings relationships as required by the duties of the position.
