The City of Sylvania is accepting applications for the position of Wastewater Plant Superintendent. Employee must be certified as a Class II Operator under the Georgia State Certification System.  This position plans, supervises and participates in the operation, maintenance and repair of the City’s wastewater systems.  Work involves supervising and training wastewater treatment plant operators, the performance of technical laboratory testing work, the checking of work performance of personnel to ensure that proper procedures are used.  Duties required exercising independent judgment in resolving daily operational problems.  Work is performed under the general supervision of the Director of Utilities who plans all except routine work and makes periodic checks of work in progress; does related work as required.  Starting salary dependent on experience and qualifications.  Salary increase after six-month successful probationary period and annually thereafter.  Benefits include employer paid health insurance for the employee, retirement, disability insurance, vacation, sick leave and holiday pay.   Applications should be submitted to Carter Crawford, City Manager, City Hall, 104 South Main Street, Sylvania, GA  30467 no later than August 13, 2010.
