Clackamas County’s Department of Employee Services (DES) is seeking an entry level Human Resources (HR) Specialist who has daily direct customer contact and strong HRIS skills. Applicants must have at least 1 year of recent HR experience in any of the HR disciplines. 

The HR Specialist will provide front-line support for all disciplines including: recruitment and selection, classification and compensation, employee relations, labor relations, training and development, HRIS, and diversity. Each of these programs is administered by a HR Manager who provides guidance and direction on assignments specific to the functional area.  One of these HR Managers is the primary supervisor for this position. 

Candidates must have at least 1 year of recent HR experience, providing day-to-day hands-on analysis and project work in at least one or more functional HR areas. Candidates must be interested in performing as a Human Resources Specialist with a mix of HR projects including: recruitment, classification reviews, salary studies, HRIS query and research, employee relations and policy development, diversity programs and training projects.

Competitive applicants will have intermediate level skills with Microsoft Office Suite or equivalent and demonstrated experience and skills in the use of HRIS systems.  Our HR Specialists use PeopleSoft HRIS on a daily basis in performing projects and the majority of work will be recruiting and compensation assignments. Applicants must possess strong analytical skills and have an attention to detail.  We are seeking a person with excellent communication skills, a commitment to customer service, and interest in working in a team environment. Bilingual skills a plus, but are not required.
