This position is responsible for directing and administering benefit programs and compensation for approximately 5000 District employees/retirees.  This includes health plans, short and long term disability insurance, life insurance, employee assistance program, flexible spending plans, Health Savings Accounts, employee leaves of absence, sick leave banks, reclassification requests and wellness programs.

Any combination of experience and training that would provide the required knowledge and abilities is appropriate.  A representative way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:

• knowledge of employee benefits programs and retirement plans,
• four years managerial or administrative experience with responsibilities for benefits, retirement plans or in the management of human resources programs, 
• experience in conducting compensation studies and successful supervision of staff,
• bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in HR, business, finance, or related field and/or certifications such as CEBS or SPHR.
