Utilities Department is accepting applications for an Apprentice
Electrical/Instrumentation Technician. This position maintains electrical and
mechanical equipment and controls by monitoring daily systems communications,
corresponding with personnel and supervisors, preventing major problems,
completing work orders, maintaining inventory and supplies, installing SCADA
and Automated Meter Infrastructure (AMI) electrical controls, and designing
control and communication systems. Reviews communications in the SCADA system
by reviewing programs for communication dropouts, operating various programs,
performing fieldwork, climbing towers, and obtaining voltage, current, and
resistance measurements. Creates screen by creating or copying screens and
trend charts, updating programming, creating communications panels, maintaining
touch screens, updating additional information, installing alarms to paging
systems, and installing flow and pressure transmitters. Performs office and clerical
work by operating various software programs, answering emails, maintaining
inventory and cost records, creating, updating and completing work orders, updating
electrical drawings, obtaining service on assigned vehicles, training
personnel, and participating in company programs.

- Must be
able to regularly stand and walk to a significant degree; use hands to operate
tools or feel, and talk or hear. Able
to frequently pull, push, kneel, bend, squat, crawl, and twist. Must be able to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and
occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds.
